Week 1 of the workshop series is an overview of assessments in semester 2 and an introduction to the Mahara ePortfolio platform.

Task 1 is to set up your Mahara profile and create a page to share with teaching staff for assessment in Week 5

Mahara - eportfolio setup

So far the set up has been pretty easy. I am putting together the necessary pieces to make sure I cover all of the requirements

  • A page specific for the workshop activities (and assessment) - Popular Voice Workshop
  • A journal which will be timestamped for each entry (One per week) - Rod's Teaching Journal
  • Media that is relevant to the Workshops - e.g the How To... Video
  • My profile

I have checked that I understand all of the assessmentsI have downloaded all of the materials from Moodle and read through them

All that is left is to expand my understanding of Mahara and build a portfolio that is full of useful information, reflections and personal details that will assist my assessments and create an active professional CV

I have also uploaded the assessment info and placed the documents in my ePortfolio

I should also add here my thoughts about the benefits of creating and maintaining a portfolio

  • everything in one place
  • feedback and commentary
  • distillation of ideas
  • representation and identity
